Throw a "Pamper Me" Home Spa Party

Feeling exhausted?  Stressed out over the state of the economy?  Instead of a pity party, throw a "pamper me" home spa party for you and a few of your BWGs (Best WhimsiGirlfriends)!

From the fancy resort treatments to the girl-times-are-hard-gotta-do-it-myself mani's.  We love them all!  This issue of our newsletter gives you tips on how to throw a home spa party . . . that won't leave you broke!

-- Invitations.  Once you've decided on all the party details (who? when? where?), choose an invitation like our Spa Lady invitations to send your guests.  Add a warm touch to your invitations by handwriting all of the details.  (RARE these days!)

Lavendar Candles-- Atmosphere.  Clear the party room of all clutter and unnecessary furniture.  But make sure you leave enough tables for the ladies to rest their martinis during their mani's!
Ahh, scented candles and soothing music.  Both help set the tone for your home spa party.  Burn lavender-scented candles throughout the party space.  For music, pick up Joshua Redman's new CD, Compass, on Amazon. It's perfect for the occasion.

-- Special note re: small spaces.  Remember, no space is too small for a party!  I once threw a spa bridal shower for five ladies in a 600 square foot efficiency!  Think Miami chic!  Invite your BWGs to sit on your bed and have a cocktail.  Clear your nightstand and make it the bar.  Place some pillows on the floor for extra seating.

-- Pampering accoutrements.  For a home spa party, you'll need a few things:  a foot massage tub (try Dr. Scholl's DR6622 Toe-Touch Foot Spa with Massage), at least one towel per guest, soap scrub, a complete manicure kit, pumice stone, toe separators, organic nail polish, and acetone-free nail polish remover.  If you don't want to go to the expense of purchasing a foot massage tub, fill the bottom of a small tub with massage stones, and add water, rose petals, and lavender oil.  Be sure to have extra flip flops on hand for your guests while their nails dry.

If all of this sounds like it requires just a little too much work, throw in the towel (LOL!) and hire a mobile spa company!

-- Food.  Place the buffet table in a room adjoining the spa room.  Decorate the table with flowers, lavender, and crystals.  Now for the food: light fare is just what the doctor ordered.  Sliced cucumbers.  Grapes.  Lightly toasted pita bread and hummus.  Salmon spread on crackers.  Scoops of tuna on iceburg lettuce.  Chicken salad on endive leaves.  You get the picture.

Lavendar Candles-- Cocktails.  If your drink of choice is a Cosmo, please don't let us stop you.  However, if you're feeling daring and want to go for something a tad different, try a cranberry-pomegranate martini.

2 oz Vodka
2 oz pomegranate juice
1 oz cranberry juice
Splash fresh lime
Garnish with orange or lime

Drop a few cranberries into the bottom of the martini glass, and then fill the glass with the mixed beverage.

Cheers and happy pampering!
