Hold on, Disney!
We already have our own princesses!

Princess parties are all the rage now. Celebrate your daughter’s birthday this year with a princess party honoring Egyptian goddess Bastet, also known as the Cat Goddess.  Represented by the color pink, Bastet is a very feminine goddess.

Send our princess party invitations (get them here!) to your daughter’s guests inviting them to wear pink to the party in honor of Bastet.  Encourage guests to bring picture books featuring stories about Egyptian goddesses.

Now the royal fun begins!

Set up a station where the girls can make their own Egyptian headdresses and decorate princess mirrors in honor of Bastet and other Egyptian goddesses.  Click here for all the things you’ll need.  For example, your daughter might honor Nut the Sky Goddess by painting her mirror blue and accenting it with golden star stickers.  To spark creativity provide the princess and her friends with descriptions of various Egyptian goddesses.

Finally, serve a meal fit for princesses. Make tea sandwiches (tuna, turkey salad, peanut butter and jelly) in the shape of ankhs like the ones here.  (The ankh is the Egyptian symbol for eternal life.)  Instead of tea, serve the Royal Highness and her buddies lemonade in tea cups with saucers.

The birthday princess and her princess playmates are sure to have a royal ball!
